Are we going to do this every year?

You might recall the hype surrounding the date thirteen months ago, when the Neat-Oest Day Ever came along: 7-7-07, prompting 37,000 American couples to rush things and prematurely make the trip to the altar, all in the name of having a "lucky" marriage.

Well, you'll never believe this, but apparently every year there's some kind of date to get excited about, whether it's consecutive numbers, identical numbers, or whatever. You don't even have to figure it out for yourself, because the news stations will be sure to let you know.

Twenty-five minutes into tonight's half-hour KVUE newscast, there's been a story about the Longhorns, one about an apparent public intoxication/urination/defecation/loitering problem in downtown Austin, and of course, a much-touted special report on the many couples flocking to the Justice of the Peace's office to gat married on 8-8-08.

Nobody told KVUE about the Olympics. Or the Russia-Georgia conflict. Or John Edwards.

Who cares? It's 8-8-08!

Just as many holidays are perpetuated to keep retailers selling and consumers buying, So know the divorce attorney has hatched his fiendish scheme to ensure job security.

I think KVUE must use the Orange Leader (Leader of what, pray tell?) as its news source. Give 'em a couple of days. They'll get the story out there---maybe!
