Pretenti-o-meter

pre·ten·tious - adjective 1. characterized by assumption of dignity or importance; 2. making an exaggerated outward show; ostentatious.

The Prosecution
1. I recently bought a Toyota Prius.
2. At the grocery, we use only reusable cloth shopping bags.
3. We enjoy a nightly glass of white wine.
4. We watch independent films, and I write reviews of them on my website.
5. Our current reads are Jane Austen (me) and The Classical World: An Epic History from Homer to Hadrian (Ray).
6. Ray owns a wide variety of argyle socks and sweater vests.
7. I've recently taken up sailing on Sunday afternoons.
8. We've recently taken up tennis on Saturday mornings.

The Defense
1. The aforementioned wine normally comes from a 5-liter box.
2. Ray and Spanky (the dog) get home haircuts--from the same Conair hair buzzer.
3. We shop at Walmart once in a while.
