Snyder's son Matthew died in Iraq in March 2006, and seven members (four of whom were children) of Phelps' clan made a showing at the funeral. Snyder didn't see the small group that day, who held "Thank God for Dead Soldiers" signs, though many of the other attendees did. He sued and won $2.9 million in compensatory damages, $6 million for invasion of privacy, and $2 milion for causing emotional distress. Boo-yah.
If you haven't heard of Fred Phelps or Westboro before, you can check out their oh-so-self-righteous website at Godhatesfags.com (no kidding), and delve more deeply into their reasons for doing what they do (but in short, America supports homosexuals--these soldiers are fighting for America--they die--it's God's wrath). Just don't mix it up with the British version of the site, which is about how God hates smoking.
Still wanting more? You're in luck, he's got eight more websites:
http://www.godhatessweden.com/, http://www.godhatesireland.com/, http://www.godhatescanada.com/, http://www.godhatesamerica.com/, http://www.smellthebrimstone.com/, http://www.priestsrapeboys.com/, http://www.thesignsofthetimes.net/, and http://www.americaisdoomed.com/. I wish I were kidding.
I hope the "God Hates IKEA" coffee mugs are selling well...the lawsuit floodgates have been opened.

Those people are sick. Really. I admire the for their work to counter the hate message of the Phelpses.
That didn't go well. Let me try again:

Though I do take the stance that homosexuality is wrong, these people have gone WAY too far. Who do they think they are helping with this bullying?
