Fly, Jump, & Run

Is there a certain point at which the sheer effort and ingenuity put forth to elude punishment for a crime proves that you should just be allowed to run? If there is, then Marcus Schrenker has long since blown past it.

Perhaps you've heard his story already. Schrenker is a 38-year-old investment adviser from Indiana whose business and reputation had come under federal investigation recently because of some crooked dealings and allegations of fraud. He is, simply put, not very nice.

He has been accused of swindling money from his clients, including $135,000 of one couple's $900,000 retirement fund. His wife claims he was having an affair. And he walked out on his three children, though they're probably better off without him.

So he boarded his small airplane, with which he has previously performed daredevil stunts, and attempted to fake his death by parachuting out of it over Alabama, allowing it to fly on unmanned and finally crash, walk to the storage facility where he had stashed his motorcycle days before, and drive it away to who knows where.

Yes, he's a selfish, corrupt person. But he's also pretty damn smooth.

You know you agree.
