Sad news today from the seldom-meshing worlds of entertainment and science--Mr. Wizard has passed away at the age of 89 from bone cancer. Mr. Wizard, or Don Herbert, had his original show in the 50s and 60s, and then more recently a show during my childhood in the 80s. He aimed to show kids that science could be fun, and that they could mimic his experiments with household objects.
Watch yourself, Opie. Not only was he the king of small-screen-science, he also served as a World War II Army Air Corps pilot, actor, and...
male model. An intellectual
and a ladykiller. You'll be missed.
