I've Arrived in Orange--My Photos of Ike Damage

Rebuilding in downtown Orange: somehow I don't think OSHA would approve of this.


Up come the dead: Hollywood cemetery in Orange, where caskets surfaced.

Bridge City, near the water--one of the very worst we saw.
Another house that was very badly flooded. These reeds washed up and then left an incredible mess when the waters receded.

This house, like others on this street, was completely washed out. I assume that someone found this girl's megaphone and left it on the post for her.

Wow.

If there's a silver lining, it's this - I learned during Hurricane Rita that, while it's tough work, you actually come out ahead.

People who lost homes, or lots of their belongings (hopefully) had decent insurance, and will be able to start over.

...but it ain't a quick fix.

You know, Coming out ahead cant replace memories...just a little FYI.

However, it was good to see you again Amber, y'all went a long way to take my mind off of things saturday...i could use alot more nights like that!
